Slavie Federal in the Community: HARBEL Housing Partnership
The HARBEL Housing Partnership is a non-profit housing education and counseling program, initiated by the HARBEL Community Organization in 1993, with the financial support of Slavie Federal Savings Bank and eleven other community banks.
Andrea Niedzwicki, Loan Servicing Manager at Slavie Federal, serves as the Vice-Chairperson for the HARBEL Housing Partnership. The Partnership's focus is to provide a comprehensive education and counseling program. This program contains three components: educational workshops, home study and preparation, and individual counseling. The program is designed to prepare prospective home buyers for the home buying process and to make them successful and lifelong homeowners.
There is a one-on-one pre-purchase counseling session available to meet the needs of the future home buyer. The counselor discussed the loan application process, the affordability of the house and the mortgage payment, the special programs available for which they are eligible and a review of the buyer documentation requirements. These counseling sessions may benefit an individual with credit problems or someone with access to limited funds for a down payment and/or closing costs, by providing specific guidance to achieve their goal of homeownership.
